Wired for sound! v1.0.23


Update v1.0.23 12-06-2025

At long last, I have sound! I worked on some music and sound effects this week. There’s more to add but we’ll get there.

For the title music, I wanted something swift and fun. I like the old NES games that had the fast and busy opening scores like Faxanadu and Magic of Schreherezade and even other later titles like Mario Kart Wii. Since the level is supposed to be in a pinball machine, I was thinking of old arcade games. Pac-Man is a classic and you may hear some of the chromatic bass undertones from that score. The opening riff is inspired by Faxanadu (but it is not note for note the same riff. I dropped the pick up, changed some of the 6th and 7th tones and added a descending counter melody… and it’s in Bb, not B)

For sound effects, I tried making slimy sounds when the slime dies. The Fruit collection ascends and descends tones as you collect. This was inspired by the ascending tones from Super Mario when you jump on consecutive enemies without touching the ground.

Map update

If you’ve played this game already, you may have been frustrated by how quick you can die. I added an easier (?) level and give more runway before expiration.
